Nurse Practitioners and Advocates to Be Honored at National AANP Conference

Nurse practitioners and nurse practitioner advocates, recipients of the prestigious American Association of Nurse Practitioners (AANP) 2016 State Award for Excellence, will be honored at an awards ceremony and reception during the AANP 2016 National Conference June 21-26, 2016, in San Antonio, TX. Dr. Irene W. Bean, DNP, FNP-BC of Nashville, TN will be among the recipients honored.

The State Award for Nurse Practitioner Excellence, founded in 1991, recognizes a nurse practitioner (NP) in a state who demonstrates excellence in practice. In 1993, the State Award for Nurse Practitioner Advocate was added to recognize the efforts of individuals who have made a significant contribution toward increasing awareness and acceptance of NPs.

Dr. Irene W. Bean is a graduate of Loyola University in New Orleans where she received her Doctoral of Nursing Practice and a Master of Science in Nursing from Tennessee State University in Nashville, TN. Dr. Bean is the founder of the Tennessee Nurse Practitioner Association which was established in 2014. She serves as the Executive Director for the Association. She is the founder and CEO of Serenity Health Care and Weight Loss Clinic in Madison, TN. Dr. Bean continues to advocate and unite with APRNs to promote Full Practice Authority, which will allow Tennesseans an opportunity to choose affordable, effective, quality, and safe healthcare.
